The cultural community commemorated the 75th anniversary of the birth of Jiří Bělohlávek

Czech Radio included in its programme a specially composed series, A Week with Jiří Bělohlávek, in which the renowned conductor was remembered in five episodes by Dagmar Pecková, Jakub Hrůša, Roman Bělor, Tomáš Netopil, and Aleš Březina. The KlasikaPlus.cz portal published Bohuslav Vítek’s study Jiří Bělohlávek and the Four Worlds in the Opera The Plays of Mary, which focuses on Bělohlávek’s 1985 recording of Martinů’s opera with the Prague Symphony Orchestra.

In February and March, Bělohlávek’s friend Alexander Goldscheider published a twenty-four-part series on his Facebook page entitled Jiří Bělohlávek: A Life in Pictures. From May onwards, KlasikaPlus.cz began publishing a transcript of his San Francisco Diary. Jiří Bělohlávek wrote the diary at his friend’s request between May and July 2016, when he was preparing and conducting Janáček’s Jenůfa in San Francisco. On the same portal, Alexander Goldscheider also published a number of other fascinating chapters from Jiří Bělohlávek's professional life.
